Item No. 10101SH
$ 3,095.00
Encased in 18K gold and made by one of the premier watchmakers in the world, Audemars Piguet, this special "ultra slim" piece was one of the company's top-tier offerings, made for the U.S. market.
It was made at a time when wristwatches were just beginning to catch on, and many if not most men hadn't transitioned yet from carrying a pocket watch.
It is equipped with one of Audemar's Piguets masterful ultra thin movements. Incredibly the complete watch with crystal measures less than 7mm thick...without the crystal it measures less than 5mm!
Ultra thin watches have always captured my admiration because the watchmaking skill and extra care needed to make them are extraordinary. The tolerances are so small that each one is a horological achievement itself.
Adding to its technical prowess it was made with 7 adjustments. This watch posseses a lot of technical sophistication and luxury for a watch in this price range.
Its aesthetic centerpiece is its wonderful brushed silver dial with 18K gold Breguet numerals. Depending on the angle of viewing it can appear either quite light or quite dark.
We previously owned a similar watch made by AP for sale through Tiffany & Co., with a Tiffany branded dial. A photo of it is in the listing.
It has a numbers matching movement and case and all of its original parts down to all hands and the winding crown.
It is in very pleasing condition. Unlike U.S. market examples, this is a true all-Swiss AP creation. Its original AP signed slim case is in excellent condition with only light wear and very slight indentions in the soft and 18K gold back.
Its dial has applied gold Breguet numerals. Its looks well-restored in vintage times. The base of the 12 is no longer present and it shows light aging. Please inquire if you would like it freshly restored.
One of our Master Watchmakers has fully serviced the watch which consists of fully disassembling the ultra-thin movement, carefully inspecting each part, reassembling and lubricating the movement, and extensive timing testing and regulation (a $795 value).
Please inquire if you would like other photos of the inside of the watch.
Included with the purchase is a one-year C.O.T. international warranty on the movement and its function and a custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity.
