In the 1920's, no name better captured the idea of embracing the best life had to offer than that of Tiffany & Co. One of the company's select offerings was a line of watches emblazoned with the Tiffany & Co. name on the dial. Although the maker's name were always hidden, the retailer contracted with the world's finest watch and jewelry making firms to produce these treasured timepieces.
Today these special watches are sought-after by men of distinction and anyone desiring to own a world-class timepiece.
Encased in platinum, the most expensive precious metal of its day, and made by one of the premier watchmakers in the world, Audemars Piguet, this special piece was one of Tiffany's top-tier offerings. It was made at a time when wristwatches were just beginning to catch on, and many if not most men hadn't transitioned yet from carrying a pocket watch.
For convenience sake the watch was equipped with Audemar's Piguets masterful ultra thin movement. Incredibly the complete watch with crystal measures a mere 5.4mm thick! Ultra thin watches have always captured my admiration because the watchmaking skill and extra care needed to make them are extraordinary. The tolerances are so small that each one is a horological achievement itself. This watch possesses a lot of technical sophistication and luxury for a timepiece in this price range.
It is 100% original, down to all hands, the crown, and even the mineral glass crystal appears original!
It is in very pleasing condition, appearing to have been worn seldom and carefully in appreciation of its quality and value and then safely stored away. Its case, which has matching numbers to its movement, is just short of mint.
Its dial, with Tiffany signed in a cartouche in the centre, is original. Please inquire if you would like it professionally restored. And its original AP movement is keeping time. Please inquire if you would like photos of the inside of the watch.
One of our watchmakers has disassembled it down to its last screw and cleaned and oiled it making it ready for immediate enjoyment.
Included with the purchase is a one-year C.O.T. international warranty on the movement and its function, a custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity, and a new timing certificate.
