1920's Rolex Ladies Vintage Art Deco Watch - 9K Rose Gold

Rolex

Item No. 7865

While busy developing their Oyster case, Rolex also crafted lady's pieces to meet the needs of their wealthy female clients. The fine wristwatch featured in this offering is an example of one of these very early Lady Rolex timepieces. Rolex was one of the pioneers of the wrist-worn watch.

The centerpiece of the watch is its strikingly and unusually styled case. We have owned dozens of these watches, and this is the first one we have owned with a case like this.

Its complemented by the wonderful silver face decorated with sunburst guilloche Roman numerals which is original and untouched.

Even its original hands are different than most Rolexes of this style...for this watch the company forewent the usual "spade" or "cathedral" style of hand and instead went with this more distinctive style. The blued steel hands have toned to a deep purple tone.

Powering this gem is a fine, early Rolex "Rebberg" timekeeping mechanism.

Its case is in honest condition. The back has wear, a scratch, and indentions in the metal. The lugs have previously been reinforced by a jeweler. It has scratches in the area where it is opened for servicing. The bezel is in excellent condition. On the wrist it presents very nicely.

Its original dial - about a century old - is still in very pleasing condition. And its Rolex movement is surprisingly clean for its age.

One of our Master Watchmakers, who used to be the watchmaker for an authorized Rolex dealer and was given special training by Rolex at their Beverly Hills Service Center, has fully serviced the watch which consists of fully disassembling the movement, carefully inspecting each part, installing a new correct mainspring, reassembling and lubricating the movement, and extensive timing testing and regulation (a $795 value).

These watches are known for not operating especially well because of their age, but this one, which we have also timed on a machine that spins it in all directions simulating it being worn on the wrist, is keeping very acceptable time.

Included with the purchase is a one-year C.O.T. international warranty on the movement and its function, a custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity.
