1920's Swiss Ancre Vintage Art Nouveau / Art Deco Ladies Watch - 18K Gold, Diamonds & Sapphires

Ancre

Item No. 5687SH

Today's offering showcases this stunning early ladies wristwatch. The gorgeous 18K gold, diamond, and sapphire case with original hand-engraved scroll motif is in pleasing condition. It is set with 36 old cut diamonds.

The fine Swiss handwound movement, which is surprisingly well-preserved for its age, has just been freshly serviced by our watchmaker. We have installed a brand new mineral glass crystal. You'll feel like a queen wearing this gem.

The watch has previously been fitted with a vintage grosgrain strap that replicates the look of the original.

Included with the purchase is a one-year C.O.T. warranty on the movement and its function.

Ancre Watch Co.:
"Ancre" is the Swiss word for lever, a reference to the type of escapement found in the movement of this watch and most watches produced since the time of this watch (and many previously). An escapement is a mechanical linkage that gives pushes to the timepiece's balance wheel, keeping it rotating back and forth, and with each swing of the balance wheel allows the timepiece's gear train to advance a fixed amount, thus moving the hands forward at a steady rate. The escapement is what makes the "ticking" sound in mechanical watches and clocks.
