1925 Rolex Vintage Antique Mens Hunter Case Pocket Watch, 49mm - 9K Solid Gold

Rolex

Item No. 9096

Today's offering showcases this uncommon and pleasing Rolex pocket watch made between the Wars in 1925.

By the 1920's, Rolex had shifted the majority of its production to wristwatches however they continued to make a relatively small number of traditional pocket watches. The desirable hunter cased watch featured in this auction is an example of this phenomenon.

We are pleased to offer it. It features a full size and fairly heavy solid gold case made for Rolex, the company's contractor for watches destined for the English market and bears Birmingham hallmarks for 1925.

Besides being marked Rolex in the secondary branding position, its fine enamel dial proclaims that it was specially made for the well-known watch and clock retailing firm Camerer Cuss & Co. of London. Successful for over 100 years, the family owned company sold many fine watches.

The marvelous Rolex movement in the watch is quite fine and features a special "moustache" counterpoise snail cam regulator most often associated with Patek's Chronometro Gondolo watches.

It remains in all original condition.

Its case presents as better than near mint. Its dial is nearly flawless with no scratches or hairlines. Its bow is nice and tight. And its high grade movement is very clean.

One of our Master Watchmakers, who used to be the watchmaker for an authorized Rolex dealer and was given special training by Rolex at their Beverly Hills Service Center to be an authorized Rolex watchmaker, has fully serviced the watch which consists of fully disassembling the movement, carefully inspecting each part, replacing any overly worn components with genuine Rolex parts, installing a new mainspring, reassembling and lubricating the movement, and extensive timing testing and regulation (a $795 value).

Amazingly after more than a century, it is running extremely strong and true, keeping time on par with brand new Rolex, running within approx. 1 second per day in our testing position.

Included with the purchase is a one-year warranty on the movement and its function and a custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity.

Also accompanying the watch is a very cool original Rolex for Bucherer spoon to showcase the types of co-branding that Rolex did with the likes of fine jewelers like Bucherer of Switzerland and Camerer Cuss & Co. of London.
