1927 Rolex Art Deco Vintage Mens Officer's Style Watch - 9K Gold

Rolex

Item No. 7159

Today's offering showcases this rare 9K Art Deco Officer's style Rolex made in 1927.

In the first decade after the turn of the twentieth century when someone referred to a gentleman's watch they most often meant one object - a large, timing instrument kept in the pocket. That changed in part because of Hans Wilsdorf, a true legend in timekeeping history, who founded Rolex Watch Co. in 1908. When the first World War erupted, demand rose sharply for these novel watches as Allied servicemen needed a more suitable way to a access their vital timepieces.

At the close the of the war watch company's continued further down the path of having wristwatches eventually replace pocket watches as the timepiece of choice.

At the heart of the Art Deco era, right after their release of the very first Oyster watches and before they began to specialize in mostly sport watches, Rolex crafted dress wristwatches of very fine quality.

This very fine Officer's style Rolex features a pleasing cushion case, enamel dial, and larger than usual Rolex handwound movement. While many vintage watches from the era tended to be smaller in size, this watch was larger than average size for the style.

Complementing the dial are its very cool and rare "Romaine doubles" style hands. Seldom will you find a Rolex with these.

Its hallmark indicates it went through the assay office in Glasgow, Scotland in 1927.

Its case is better than near mint. Its wonderful enamel dial presents very nicely. It has one area of wear between four and five - otherwise it is very clean.

Its rare, high-grade, and larger-than-usual Rolex movement stamped "Breguet Hairspring" is very pleasing condition.

One of our watchmakers has disassembled it down to its last screw and cleaned and oiled it making it ready for immediate enjoyment.

Included with the purchase is a one-year C.O.T. international warranty on the movement and its function, a custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity, and a new timing certificate.

Don't miss the chance to own a rare and pleasing solid gold Officer's style Rolex.
