1933 Tiffany & Co. Longines Ladies Vintage Watch - Platinum & Diamonds

Tiffany & Co.

Item No. 7728

In the late 1930's like today, no name better captured the idea of embracing the best life had to offer than that of Tiffany & Co. One of their special offerings to their most discriminating female clients was a line of jeweled watches emblazoned with the Tiffany & Co. name on the dial. Although the maker's name was often hidden, the retailer contracted with a number of the world's fine watch and jewelry making firms to produce these treasured timepieces.

Today's offering showcases this stunning platinum diamond Tiffany & Co. watch made by Longines for the prestigious retailer.

When it comes to ladies watches, the focus was and still is normally much more directed to the what's on the outside of the watch than what's on the inside. That is not the case with this watch whose unusually high-quality engine would make most men's watches jealous!

It uses the same principles as Rolex's mens celebrated movement for the famed Prince. It is baguette and features an oversized winding barrel and balance wheel. By placing these two mechanisms at opposite ends of the movement the watch achieves incredible levels of accuracy and carries a longer power reserve, enabling it to run longer and more accurately on a single wind.

It is very finely crafted, approaching the quality and craftsmanship with top tier watches by the likes of Patek Philippe, Vacheron & Constantin, and Audemars Piguets. It was designed to keep consistent time regardless of how much wind was left in the mainspring (isochronism - in most watches the rate changes as the power reserve lessens), a feature of only the very highest grade watches.

Longines stamped the movement "Extra Quality."

We were fortunate to obtain it in original condition down to the dial, hands, and even the original platinum clasp and findings. The only replaced part is the winding crown.

Bejewelled with radiant original factory set diamonds, the Art Deco styled Tiffany & Co. platinum case with original hand-decorated sides and back is beautiful!

It is in very pleasing condition, appearing to have been worn carefully in appreciation of its quality and value.

Its silver Tiffany & Co. dial is original and untouched, a rare find for a watch of its age. Its platinum and diamond case is near mint plus. As mentioned it still is equipped with its original platinum clasp and findings.

One of our watchmakers has disassembled it down to its last screw and cleaned and oiled its well-made movement making it ready for immediate enjoyment.

Included with the purchase is a one-year C.O.T. international warranty on the movement and its function and a custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity.

If you are looking for a special treasure for someone in your life, this is it. Modern Tiffany watches don't match the charm and romance of this vintage original.
