1940's Movado Vintage Triple Calendar, SS Version of "FDR's Watch" - The Calendograph

Movado

Item No. 9218

During Movado's glorious period from 1912 through the 1950's, when such innovations as the polyplan movement, Calendomatic, and exceptional in-house chronographs pushed the envelope of horological technology, and original designs such as the Museum watch took their place in history, their wristwatches enjoyed a level of prestige reserved only for works of very fine watchmakers.

Today's offering features this wonderful Movado Calendograph watch.

It is the steel version of the same model that FDR owned and reportedly wore it at the Malta and Yalta Conferences in 1945 and in the last months of his life. His was retailed through Tiffany. Photos of FDR's Calendograph are in the listing below (photo from Antiquroum).

Powered by an in-house Movado movement, the watch possesses capabilities that track the date, day of the week, and month.

These dress-style non-waterproof Calendrographs are midsize watches - well-suited for someone who doesn't have a large wrist.

Its case is in excellent condition. Its dial, restored in vintage times, presents in pleasing condition.

Please kindly note that the calendar hand was mostly hidden behind the minute hand when most of our photos were taken.

One of our Master Watchmakers, who used to be the watchmaker for an authorized Rolex dealer and was given special training by Rolex at their Beverly Hills Service Center to be an authorized Rolex watchmaker, and also did watchmaking work for the Richemont Group, owner of Cartier, IWC Schaffhausen, Jaeger-LeCoultre, Vacheron Constantin, and others has fully serviced the watch which consists of fully disassembling the movement, carefully inspecting each part, replacing any overly worn components with genuine parts including a new clutch wheel and a new mainspring, reassembling and lubricating the movement, and extensive timing testing and regulation (a $695 value). Photos of the inside are available upon request.

For the finishing touch we have equipped it with a brand new crocodile strap making it ready for immediate enjoyment.

Included with the purchase is a one-year C.O.T. international warranty on the movement and its function, a full-page custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity, and a new timing certificate.
