1942 Vacheron & Constantin Vintage WWII Era Mens Watch - 18K Rose Gold

Vacheron & Constantin

Item No. 8636

Today's offering showcases this early World War II era mens Vacheron & Constantin watch in 18K rose gold.

While modern Vacheron & Constantin watches can be purchased at jewelry boutiques around the world, examples of their vintage pieces are not as common. Their scarcity results from Vacheron & Constantin's attention to detail and strict quality standards, which limited their production capacity in the 1940's to only twenty to thirty timepieces per day.

Housed in what was originally a water-resistant style case with a screw back and equipped with a high grade movement with sweep seconds, this Vacheron & Constantin watch possessed the necessary capabilities for demanding uses, while also being elegant and stylish.

An interesting functional design element of the case is its antimagnetic design. It has an iron ring with cap that forms a Faraday cage around the movement protecting it from magnetic and electromagnetic fields and also offering another layer of physical protection. Please inquire if you would like a photo showing the cap.

Further showing off its capabilities, it technical dial with 1/2 second markings made precise timing possible and served the needs of men in military, technical, sporting, or racing fields.

We are pleased to offer it in original condition. It is all-original except for the crown, which is nearly a perfect period replacement. These watches did not have signed crowns...the original would have look almost exactly like this one.

Its case presents in beautiful condition and still retains its hallmark underneath one of the bottom lugs. Its dial appears original and untouched and has toned giving it a true vintage look. If you would like to have the dial restored, please inquire.

One of our Master Watchmakers has fully serviced the watch which consists of fully disassembling the movement, carefully inspecting each part, replacing any overly worn components, installing a new internal detent and detent screw, installing a near perfectly matched crown, reassembling and lubricating the movement, and extensive timing testing and regulation (a $695 value).

Its high-grade Vacheron & Constantin movement originally adjusted even to remain accurate across a wide range of temperatures is very clean and keeping extremely accurate time. We have timed it on a machine that spins the watch in all directions simulating it being worn on the wrist. It kept time nearly on par with a new V & C running within five seconds per day.

For the finishing touch we have equipped it with a brand new crocodile strap and rose gold tone buckle making it ready for immediate enjoyment.

Included with the purchase is a one-year international warranty on the movement and its function and a custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity.
