1947 Rolex Precision Vintage Mens Elegant Ref. 4061 Dress Watch - Stainless Steel

Rolex

Item No. 10144

In the 1930's through the '50's, in the midst of their high output of utilitarian Oyster sports watches, Rolex also made much more elegant dress watches. These fine wristwatches often combine a superior hand-wound mechanism with beautiful aesthetics.

The elegant and uncommon dress Rolex Precision showcased in today's offering is a prime example of this phenomenon, likely made shortly after the end of World War II. It features very fine and pleasing styling and a well-executed handwound movement.

We really love the aesthetic of this watch with its pink gold accents, thin bezel, cabochon crown, and elegant lugs - it blends a dress style with high performance.

Its original pink gold "feuille" hands, pink gold Arabic numerals, and counterweighted blued steel sweep seconds hand all beautifully contrast its steel construction.

Powering the watch is its original Rolex caliber 700 movement whose "Super Balance" system was originally adjusted to two positions. It features an early shock resistance system.

It has just finished a true expertly done restoration. It has all of its original parts and presents in gorgeous condition - a 9.7 out of 10.

Its case presents in beautiful condition. Some of the lugs appear to have been discretely previously reinforced, as is very common with watches with these thin lugs. The engine bay has slight aging which can only be seen when it is opened as is common with these. Otherwise, it presents as mint.

Despite what the photos seem to suggest, both the lightly engraved original serial number and Rolex coronet and still both fully intact.

Its dial has been meticulously restored - the printing could pass as Rolex factory done to the naked eye.

As part of the restoration, its movement has just been overhauled by a Master Watchmaker. Photos of the inside available upon request.

It is running extremely strong and true, keeping time on par with a new Rolex even after more than three-quarters of a century.

For the finishing touch, it has been equipped with a brand new aftermarket leather strap and aftermarket Rolex style buckle making it ready for immediate enjoyment. If you would like a most distressed vintage style strap to pair with it please inquire.

Included with the purchase is a one-year international warranty on the movement and its function, a custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity, and a new timing certificate.

Don't miss the opportunity to own the perfect complement to your sporty Datejust, Sub, GMT, or Daytona.
