1950 Rolex "Bombe" Oyster Perpetual Vintage Mens Watch - 14K Gold

Rolex

Item No. 8960SH

Today's offering showcases this beautiful Certified Pre-Owned Rolex Oyster Perpetual reference 6092. It is an uncommon reference, and presents beautifully in gold.

Not seen as often as the 6090, its elegant honeycomb dial and understated case give it a really elegant and clean classic style. It's a watch that is perfectly at home being worn everyday or only for special occasions.

Today's offering features this classic and desirable vintage Rolex Oyster Perpetual.

While Rolex made most of these watches with plain dials as the more common reference 6090, this 6092 has an elegant honeycomb dial. And featuring so-called "Bombay" or "Bombe" lugs, it really added a touch of extra class to Rolex's mid-century Oyster line.

The 6092 was one of the relatively few Rolex models to feature the short-lived Super Oyster crown which was produced for only approximately three years. The “Super-Oyster” winding crown was an attempt by Rolex to create a waterproof winding crown which did not need to be screwed down. While the system itself worked, in time the rubber seal perished and therefore this crown type was phased out after only a few years of production.

With its Bombe lugs, honeycomb dial, and Super Oyster crown, this Rolex really checks all the boxes.

It is in pleasing condition with all of its original parts. Its case is scratch-free. The underside of the lugs have a couple small marks from a previously installed bracelet. On the wrist it presents beautifully.

Its dial is gorgeous even under magnification! It may be a perfectly done refinishing in vintage times or it may be original. It lovely luminous has pleasingly toned.

The combination of the "honeycomb" dial with large gold markers and hands and toned luminous with the 14K gold bombe case make for an really striking and elegant look.
