We are proud to offer today this very fine and rare original mid-century era ladies Patek Philippe with gorgeous design.
An extremely rare model, the Patek Philippe 2295 reference was in production between 1949 and approximately 1955.
It is the ladies version of the mens “Eiffel Tower” 2242. Not only does it share the same stylish design of the mens “Eiffel Tower” model, in some ways it is even more appealing as it is in a dainty case.
This model is affectionately called by collectors the "Mistinguett", after the name of a French actress and singer who was at one time the highest-paid female entertainer in the world.
According to a Philipps auction house catalogue essay in 2018, "To our best knowledge, only about 20 yellow gold examples are known to exist. With an unmissable retro flare, the present lot is definitely an elegant timepiece. Our research shows that the present watch is fresh to the market and the 19th known example to come to auction, making it an exquisite timepiece to possess." In our experience we have seen more yellow gold examples than rose.
With its classic silver face and extremely desirable and wonderfully distinctive case, it showcases an elegant and striking vintage Patek style.
Powering it is its illustrious handwound movement.
Its case presents in better than near mint condition with only light wear. Its dial has been restored by one of the leading dial experts in North America. It still retains a portion of its original raised enamel Patek Philippe signature underneath.
Our highly magnified photos suggest the presence of more wear than how it presents in person. It is quite small, and on the wrist it presents very beautifully.
One of our Master Watchmakers, who used to be the watchmaker for an authorized Rolex dealer and was given special training by Rolex at their Beverly Hills Service Center to be an authorized Rolex watchmaker also has done authorized work for the Richemont brands including Cartier, Vacheron & Constantin, IWC, JLC and others, has fully serviced the watch which consists of fully disassembling the movement, carefully inspecting each part, replacing any overly worn components with genuine parts, installing a new mainspring, reassembling and lubricating the movement, and extensive timing testing and regulation (a $895 value).
Besides timing it on electronic machines we tested it on a machine that spins it in all directions simulating it being worn on the wrist, and it is keeping very accurate time.
For the finishing touch we have equipped it with a brand new camel leather strap making it ready for immediate enjoyment.
Included with the purchase is a one-year C.O.T. international warranty on the movement and its function and a full-page custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity.
