There are ladies Patek Philippe watches that tell time beautifully, and then there are those conceived as fine jewelry in their own right.
This stunning vintage example belongs to the latter group. Its defining feature is the extraordinary pair of factory diamond-set lugs: elegant, crossed ribbons that sweep away from the circular case, giving the impression of precious-metal strands tied into a graceful bow.
The upper and lower crossings mirror each other, bringing dimension, movement, sparkle, and a distinctly mid-century sense of glamour to this fabulous Patek Philippe.
The diamond setting is particularly attractive. Brilliant-cut stones follow the slender, tapered diagonal arms, while graduated baguette diamonds line the opposing curved ribbons.
Rather than surrounding the dial with a conventional diamond bezel, Patek made the lugs the principal design statement. Their asymmetrical interplay of straight and curved lines gives the watch the character of a custom jewel, while the restraint of the round white-gold case keeps the overall design refined.
Powering the watch is its illustrious 7'''70 handwound movement, unquestionably among the finest hand-winding ladies movements ever built.
Patek designed the extremely high-grade movement to maintain very accurate timekeeping even across a wide range of temperatures, five positions, and even amounts of power left (isochronism), something only the highest top tier of mens movements could do.
Except for some ladies pieces made by Patek Philippe and a few of the highest level ladies movements from a couple other top echelon manufacturers like Audemars Piguet, it was virtually unheard of quality for a women's movement. It is one of the very few women's watches that is truly on par with the very top-tier of men's watches.
It has all of its original parts down to its hands and original unsigned dress style Patek Philippe crown. It presents in beautiful condition.
With the exception of the lugs, which show fairly light wear and one scratched area under scrutiny - much less in person than our highly magnified photos illuminated with direct light suggest - the rest of the case presents as just short of mint with only light signs of ever being previously polished. Its retains its hallmark on the side.
Its silver dial, which has a clean, fresh appearance that allows the elaborate diamond-set lugs to remain the focus, has been freshly restored by one of the leading dial experts in North America.
Kindly note that its silver dial is lighter than the shadows in the photos seem to suggest. It is the traditional Patek light silver color.
And its original Patek movement is extremely clean.
One of our Master Watchmakers, who used to be the watchmaker for an authorized Rolex dealer and was given special training by Rolex at their Beverly Hills Service Center to be an authorized Rolex watchmaker, has fully serviced the watch which consisted of fully disassembling the movement, carefully inspecting each part, re-pivoting the upper balance, installing a new mainspring, reassembling and lubricating the movement, and extensive timing testing and regulation (a $995 value).
We have also timed it on a machine that simulates it being worn on the wrist. It is keeping very accurate time.
For the finishing touch, we have equipped it with a brand new black rope cord band designed to replicate the look of the original making it ready for immediate enjoyment.

Please inquire if you would like us to obtain an Extract from the Patek Philippe Archives. Patek charges 550 CHF.
We think it is an especially beautiful expression of Patek Philippe’s mid-century jewelry-watch design, elegant enough for evening wear yet compelling to appreciate as a collector’s mechanical timepiece.
