Today's offering showcases this uncommon and exclusive ladies vintage Piaget watch.
Built c. the 1950's when Piaget was still a small family owned and run company creating only a relatively small number of high grade watches, it is very fine.
Those destined for the U.S. market were often cased stateside by Piaget contractors to avoid tariffs.
Crafted from 14K gold and set with two diamonds and stepped lugs, its case is elegant and refined. It has a wonderful hint of late Art Deco meets mid-century design.
Besides the charming case, the very fine handwound Piaget movement also showcases high quality workmanship from the era, insuring the watch's technical execution was as well done as its aesthetic design.
We were fortunate to aquire it with all of its original parts down to the hands and even winding crown.
It is in very pleasing condition.
Its silver Tiffany & Co., perhaps with its original finish or perhaps refinished in vintage times, is very clean and toned every so slightly to a light sepia color. Its solid 14K gold case is in excellent condition with light wear at the seam from previously being opened.
One of our watchmakers has disassembled it down to its last screw and cleaned and oiled it. We have also timed it on a machine that simulates it being worn on the wrist. It is keeping very accurate time.
For the finishing touch we have equipped it with a brand new gold-tone strap that replicates the style of the original making it ready for immediate enjoyment.
A very tasteful vintage luxury watch that won't break the bank from what became a premier name. Modern Piaget don't come close to matching the charm of this original.
