1950's Ulysse Nardin Vintage Mens Handwound Explorer Dial Watch - 18K Gold

Ulysse Nardin

Item No. 8847

Today's offering showcases this classic mens Ulysse Nardin. It has an elegantly shaped dress style case and strong black dial. Unlike many similar UN watches from the era it was made in 18K gold rather than 14K.

Measuring 34.5mm in diameter without the crown by 42mm long, it is in between the sizes of a Rolex Date and a Datejust.

The case has a pleasing design with downward lugs. Its gorgeous dial has an Explorer style configuration with numerals at the primary hours. Our photos couldn't do it justice.

Powering it is its original well-made Ulysse Nardin handwound movement.

It has just finished a true expertly done restoration. It has fully UN parts and presents in gorgeous condition.

Its case presents as mint with only light signs of previous polishing. Its dial has been meticulously refinished - the gilt printing could pass as UN factory done to the naked eye.

As part of the restoration a Master Watchmaker has overhauled the movement. Photos of the inside available upon request.

Amazingly after more than half a century it continues to run exceptionally well, keeping time like an new UN chronometer in our testing position.

For the finishing touch we have equipped it with a brand new calfskin strap making it ready for immediate enjoyment.

Included with the purchase is a one-year C.O.T. international warranty on the movement and its function, a custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity, and a new timing certificate.

A classic vintage solid 18K Ulysse Nardin watch for less than 1/10 the price of a new one. And more than six decades old yet presents like new!

Ulysse Nardin:
Ulysse Nardin is best known by many collectors for creating chronometers, extremely accurate time keeping instruments. Their marine chronometer used by ship's captains to plot and follow the correct course while at sea. By employing sextants and chronometers, a captain could track the changes in his course over time and determine the exact location of his ship, and Nardin's marine chronometers were among the most reliable and sought after.
