1955 Jaeger-LeCoultre Memovox Mens Alarm Reveil Watch - Stainless Steel

Jaeger-LeCoultre

Item No. 7869

In vintage times, as lifestyle paces moved faster and faster, top Swiss firms needed a way to enhance the experiences of their now frequently traveling top clients. The renowned engineers at Jaeger-LeCoultre rose to the occasion by creating the company's famed Memovox alarm wristwatch in 1951.

This special wristwatch featured a fully mechanical alarm system that its owner could use to better organize and govern his most precious possession - his time. To pull off this technological marvel, Jaeger-LeCoultre had to equip these watches with a second power winding spring, inner gearing, and even an additional stem and crown, making nearly an entire second movement that worked seamlessly in conjunction with the normal timing portion.

The Jaeger-LeCoultre wristwatch featured in today's offering is an example of one of these Memovox watches. While most vintage LeCoulte alarms for sale here in the U.S. have contract cases, this is a true fully Swiss made creation.

We love how its gold accents give it a dressier look than most all-steel JLCs and more versatility to be worn with a wider range of outfits.

Its 35mm stainless steel case - one millimeter smaller than a classic Datejust - is in honest condition. The back has pitting that's not visible when it's being worn - please inquire if you would like it to try be restored. On the wrist the case presents as just short mint with very strong not overly polished lines.

Its silver dial has been restored by one of the leading dial experts in North America.

Our team of Master Watchmakers spent a year and a half sympathetically restoring the watch. The final servicing was done by one of our Master Watchmakers, who used to be the watchmaker for an authorized Rolex dealer and was given special training by Rolex at their Beverly Hills Service Center to be an authorized Rolex watchmaker which consisted of fully disassembling the movement, carefully inspecting each part, replacing any overly worn components, reassembling and lubricating the movement, installing a correct new-old-stock escape wheel and mainspring, and extensive timing testing and regulation (a $995 value).

The manually wound Jaeger-LeCoultre alarm movement is quite clean and running extremely strong and true, keeping time on par with a new watch in our testing position.

For the finishing touch we have equipped it with a brand new crocodile strap making it ready for immediate enjoyment.

Included with the purchase is a one-year C.O.T. warranty on the movement and its function, a custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity, and a new timing certificate.
