When it comes to aesthetics, for some collectors topping the chart of the Jaeger-LeCoultre's special vintage wristwatches is the exquisite LeCoultre Galaxy Mystery Dial. Named after the way the hour marker mysteriously floats around the dial, seemingly unattached to the rest of the watch yet keeping perfect time, these exceptional wristwatches captivate the imagination.
The Galaxy is the only watch in the world which has some of the examples signed outwardly by both LeCoultre and Vacheron & (Vacheron & Constantin and Jeager-LeCoultre shared the same distributorship in the U.S.).
This reference has both a version that its outwardly signed and a version that is outwardly unsigned. As you can see this is the unsigned version, and it is otherwise identical to the signed version. The only difference between the two is the presence or absence of a signature.
This fine Mysterieuse presents in pleasing original condition. The only replacement part is the winding crown. It is the much more uncommon black dial version...the vast majority of these watches have a silver dial.
Its case presents in excellent condition. It is scratch-free with only light signs of previous polishing, and the rhodium plating is fully intact.
Its untouched original dial presents in excellent condition with only light aging. Its original acrylic disks are in mint condition, which is almost unheard of.
And its movement is very clean. Photos of the inside available upon request.
One of our Master Watchmakers has freshly disassembled its very find handwound movement down to the last screw and fully serviced it. It is running strong and true, keeping time nearly on par with a new JLC watch in our testing recording position.
For the finishing touch we have equipped it with a brand new crocodile strap making it ready for immediate enjoyment.
Included with the purchase is a one-year C.O.T. warranty on the movement and its function, a custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity, and a new timing certificate.
