1958 Jaeger-LeCoultre Vintage Mystery Dial Ladies Watch - 14K White Gold & Diamonds

Jaeger-LeCoultre

Item No. 9667

When it comes to aesthetics, for some collectors topping the chart of the Jaeger-LeCoultre's special vintage wristwatches is the exquisite LeCoultre Mystery Dial. Named after the way the hour marker mysteriously floats around the dial, seemingly unattached to the rest of the watch yet keeping perfect time, these exceptional wristwatches captivate the imagination.

Today's offering showcases this very fine and uncommon ladies Mysterieuse.

While men’s mystery dial LeCoultre watches appear regularly in the vintage market - we've owned dozens - the ladies versions are encountered far less often, reflecting lower original production. In fact, this is the first we've ever owned.

These watches were not conceived as scaled-down novelties, but as fully realized expressions of LeCoultre’s most inventive dial architecture, executed in a format that balanced technical intrigue with jewelry-level refinement. The result is a watch that carries the same visual magic of the floating hands, yet feels markedly more intimate and considered, often enhanced by diamond settings and elegant proportions that were never mass-produced.

For collectors already drawn to Jaeger-LeCoultre’s designs and achievements or the beauty of the mystery dial, the ladies mystery dial offers a compelling extension of that story.

If you're a man who collects vintage watches or JLC, this gives you the chance to share the fascination of horology in a meaningful way with your spouse or significant other - and perhaps entice them into the wonder of mechanical timekeeping through a piece that is both beautiful and seldom seen...or at least begin to gain their understanding of your passion and who knows, maybe even win their approval for more purchases.

This watch barely made it into the light of day: the owner’s wife, who has her own collection and our entire kingdom of watches at her disposal, spent a long time debating whether it would quietly become one of hers.

We were fortunate to acquire it in such pleasing all-original condition.

Its case is in excellent condition with only very slight remnants of wear and slight signs of previous polishing to the back. Its original dial is also in excellent condition with only slight aging. The disks are all original with one hairline.

On the wrist, it presents as better than near mint.

One of our Master Watchmaker has fully serviced the watch which consists of fully disassembling the movement, carefully inspecting each part, replacing any overly worn components including installing a balance complete - the beating heart of the watch, reassembling and lubricating the movement, and extensive timing testing and regulation (a $995 value). Now it's ready again for decades of use.

It is running strong and true, keeping very accurate time.

For the finishing touch, we have installed a new leather band and meticulously detailed it making it ready for immediate enjoyment.

Included with the purchase is a one-year C.O.T. warranty on the movement and its function, a custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity, and a new timing certificate.

Rather than being an accessory adjacent to the hobby, the ladies mystery dial stands as a true horological object in its own right, one that can initiate a shared appreciation for craftsmanship, design, and history while remaining rare enough to feel personal and special.
