1960's Rolex Ladies Vintage Cocktail Watch - 18K White Gold & Diamonds

Rolex

Item No. 10593

Today's offering showcases this rare and exquisite Rolex creation. It is fully Rolex down to its original bracelet and in beautiful condition.

According to Bucherer advertisement from the period, watches like this were made exclusively for the premier Swiss watch retailer and jeweler Bucherer. As Hess and Dowling state in their authoritative work on Rolex, watches like this are, "in fact, the last hand made Rolex watches."

Bejeweled with fifty (50) diamonds, the 18K white Rolex gold case is absolutely stunning! Showcasing a beautiful design with two large brilliants as the centerpiece, this cocktail watch as it is called, added the perfect finishing touch to outfits worn to galas, award ceremonies, or other special gatherings.

The beautifully faceted rectangular case sits between two dramatic diamond-set lugs, each shaped almost like an eye and centered by a large round brilliant diamond. The effect is wonderfully theatrical without becoming heavy. The openwork around the center stones keeps the design airy, while the smaller diamonds tracing each surround add sparkle and definition. From a distance it reads almost as a piece of fine jewelry first and a watch second.

The brilliant diamonds are white, near flawless, and full of fire as one would expect from original Rolex factory set diamonds. The case itself is wonderfully petite, yet the large diamonds and sculpted links give the piece far more presence than its dimensions would suggest.

This would be a striking mid-century cocktail watch in its own right, with its sculpted diamond-set links and large round brilliants. What makes it far more special is that it is a Rolex, bringing the quality, prestige, and collecting appeal of one of the most recognizable names in luxury watchmaking to an already magnificent piece of jewelry design.

We were fortunate to acquire it in pleasing condition.

Its case presents as just short of mint. Its CB stamping is clearly intact throught. The back has one tiny pin prick - on the wrist it presents beautifully.

Its black honeycomb dial was previously very well-refinished. Please inquire if you would like the color changed.

One of our Master Watchmakers who used to be the watchmaker for an authorized Rolex dealer and was given special training by Rolex at their Beverly Hills Service Center to be an authorized Rolex watchmaker, has fully serviced the watch which consists of fully disassembling the movement, carefully inspecting each part, installing a new correct Rolex mainspring and balance, reassembling and lubricating the movement, and extensive timing, testing and regulation (an $995 value).

We have also timed it on a machine that simulates it being worn on the wrist. It is running very strong and true, keeping time essentially on par with a brand new Rolex.

For the finishing touch, we have meticulously detailed it making it ready for immediate enjoyment.

Accompanying the watch is a Rolex - Bucherer spoon from the era that showcased the companies' partnership.

Included with the purchase is a one-year warranty on the movement and its function and a custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity.
