1960's Tiffany & Co. Mens Vintage Classic Alarm Reveil Watch - 14K Gold

Tiffany & Co.

Item No. 7907

In the 1960's like today, no name better captured the idea of embracing the best life had to offer than that of Tiffany & Co. One of their special offerings to their most discriminating gentleman clients was a line of jeweled watches emblazoned with the Tiffany & Co. name on the dial.

Although the maker's name was often hidden, the retailer contracted with a number of the world's fine watch and jewelry making firms to produce these treasured timepieces.

Today's offering showcases this stunning solid gold Tiffany & Co. mechanical alarm watch made by Concord for the prestigious retailer. Unlike many examples that had U.S. made contract cases, this is a true fully Swiss creation.

Before cost-cutting measures brought about the widespread use of quartz movements for certain vintage wristwatches, Tiffany utilized Swiss-crafted mechanical movements. Using centuries old watchmaking practices, craftsmen poured individual attention into each wristwatch. One of these watches that received extra attention and craftsmanship was the alarm (reveil).

As mid-century approached and lifestyle paces moved faster and faster, top Swiss firms needed a way to enhance the experiences of their now frequently traveling top clients and to help him better organize and govern his most precious possession - his time. In response to this need the alarm watch watch created.

This special Tiffany features a fully mechanical alarm system.

To pull off this difficult task, Concord for Tiffany equipped these watches with significant inner alarm gearing, a second mainspring, and even an additional stem and crown, making many elements of second movement that worked seamlessly in conjunction with the normal timing portion.

We were fortunate to obtain our Tiffany alarm in all-original condition down to the dial, hands, and winding crown. All parts of the watch are Tiffany & Co. and original.

It appears to have been worn only occasionally and carefully with an appreciation for its value. Its elegant 14K gold Swiss Concord made water-resistant style case is better than near mint with very strong lines. It likely has never been polished. The facets on the tops of the lugs remains perfectly crisp.

Its timeless untouched original dial is in excellent condition with only light aging. And its movement is very clean and keeping accurate time.

One of our watchmakers has disassembled it down to its last screw and cleaned and oiled. For the finishing touch we have equipped it with a brand new genuine Teju lizard strap making it ready for immediate enjoyment.

Included with the purchase is a one-year C.O.T. international warranty on the movement and its function and a custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity.

If you are looking for a special treasure for someone in your life, this is it. Modern Tiffany watches don't match the charm and romance of this vintage original.
