1960's Vacheron & Constantin "Extra-Flat" Vintage Mens Midsize Square Watch - 18K Gold

Vacheron & Constantin

Item No. 5250

Today's offering showcases this mens midsize Vacheron & Constantin with ultra thin caliber 1003 movement. Its thin gold case and royal blue dial with thin markers and hands give it a classic and regal vintage style.

Just as fine on the inside as it is on the outside, the watch is powered by Vacheron & Constantin's legendary extra-flat movement, co-developed with Audemars Piguet. Released in 1955 to celebrate the company's bicentennial, this minuscule mechanism is the thinnest movement ever created for a normal size watch, measuring a mere 1.64mm!

To honor the achievement Vacheron & Constantin presented personalized examples to several key Heads of State including President Dwight Eisenhower. Only a few luxury watches in the following decades would lay claim to this movement earning them reputations as masterpieces of twentieth-century watchmaking.

It is fully original down to its dial, hands, winding crown, and original solid 18K gold V & C buckle and in pleasing condition.

Our watchmaker has just freshly cleaned and oiled the movement, which is stamped with the prestigious Poinçon de Genève.

Included with the purchase is a one-year C.O.T. warranty on the movement and its function, a custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity, and a new timing certificate.
