1965 Omega Geneve Rare Cal. 560 Vintage Mens Stainless Steel & 18K Rose Gold Watch - Only Approx. 3000 Made

Omega

Item No. 9233

Today's offering showcases this rare, classic, and pleasing automatic Omega.

It features Omega's rare caliber 560 movement of which only 3,000 examples were made. These watches were made just for the U.S. market to avoid higher tariffs, and these 3,000 movements were split across 9 known models, making each model in effect a very "limited edition."

Beginning in 1953 Omega placed the name Geneve on the dials of some of the members of the 30mm collection which at the time were produced in the company's workshops in Geneve (to put Geneve on a dial of a watch certain components and processes must take place in Geneve). According to Omega, the name referred to the Genevan Observatory where the early 30mm calibers set a number of records.

We really love the steel and rose gold bi-metal look of this watch. Its uncommon 18K rose gold accents dress up its elegant steel case and make it much more versatile to be well-worn with a variety of outfits and styles.

It presents beautifully on the wrist. Its case presents as better than near mint with only light wear. It doesn't appear to ever have been polished and retains very strong lines and strong satin to the back.

Note: The back has been snapped on perfectly straight since the photos were taken.

Its untouched original silver dial, with a pleasing cross-hair design, has warmed to a sepia and has even light spotting, giving it a true warmth and true vintage look.

One of our Master Watchmakers has disassembled it down to its last screw and cleaned and oiled it. Photos of the inside available upon request.

Besides its usual timing on several machines, we have also tested it on a machine that spins it in all directions simulating it being worn on the wrist - it ran within approximately one second per hour under those conditions.

For the finishing touch to complete the vintage style, we have equipped it with a new distressed leather strap and aftermarket Omega style buckle making it ready for immediate enjoyment.

Included with the purchase is a one-year C.O.T. international warranty on the movement and its function and a custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity.
