Today's offering showcases this very fine and meticulously restored IWC Yacht Club with oxblood red vignette dial and uncommon original IWC bracelet. It's powered by the Albert Pellaton designed Caliber 8541B movement.
Measuring 36mm in diameter without the large crown, it is the same size as a Rolex Datejust but presents in our opinion even a bit larger.
IWC built the movement of this very fine wristwatch in 1967 at the same they were building their famous Ingenieur line. Designed to be more stylish and sporty than the pragmatic Ingenieur, though still extremely durable, these large men's watches retained the high-performance timekeeping qualities of their sibling under normal wearing conditions.
These watches were more elegant than the pragmatic Ingenieur but shared the high-performance timekeeping qualities in normal wearing conditions and featured a water-resistant case, as one would expect from a nautically themed watch.
More than just stylish and durable, this impressive Yacht Club is a precision timekeeping instrument. Powered by the Pellaton Caliber 8541B movement, the same caliber found in Ingenieurs, this mechanism's automatic winding system is a technical masterpiece, earning it high praise. Gisbert Brunner and Christian Pfeiffer-Belli in their work, Wristwatches Armbanduhren Montres-bracelets, proclaimed it "one of the best automatic movements ever built in Switzerland."
Adding to its desirability is its original Gay Frères for IWC bracelet. For those not familiar, when it was independent Frères made bracelets for some very high-end makers including Patek, AP, and Rolex. It was ultimately acquired by Rolex.
It has all of its original parts down to its original fished signed waterproof crown and has just finished a true expertly done restoration. It presents in gorgeous condition - a 9.7 out of 10. Our photos couldn't do it justice.
Its full size case presents as mint. Its distinctive oxblood red vignette dial - deep red in the center that fades to black around the periphery - has been meticulously restored. The printing of the words could pass as IWC factory done to the naked eye. Its IWC bracelet presents beautifully. It has light remnants of wear on the underside - on the wrist, it presents as just short of perfect mint.
As part of the restoration, the movement has been freshly fully overhauled by a Master Watchmaker. It is running strong and very true, keeping time like a new IWC in our testing recording position.
For the finishing touch, we have meticulously detailed it making it ready for immediate enjoyment.
Included with the purchase is a one-year C.O.T. international warranty on the movement and its function, a full-page custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity, and a new timing certificate.
A more than half-century old IWC that presents like new on the wrist!
