1968 Rolex Datejust Classic Vintage Mens Stainless Steel Watch - Original Papers, Boxes & Tag

Rolex

Item No. 6822SH

Today's offering showcases this classic and original Certified Pre-Owned Rolex Oyster Perpetual Datejust model encased in stainless steel. Featuring clean lines and a sharp look, this watch embodies Rolex's timeless class. To us, when it comes to elegance and refinement, the Rolex "pie-pan" dial models were front-runners of the period.

As precise as it is classic, the watch is powered by a Rolex cal. 1570 mechanism that powered many early models of the Submariner, Explorer, and GMT models. A superior mechanism, it offers a level of engineering and craftsmanship that is exceptional.

What makes this one even more special is that it still has its original full set of papers: Its chronometer certificate with punched serial number was issued in 1968, and it has its original sales certificate / guarantee. Its also accompanied by its original booklet, tag, and inner and outer box - a true complete set!

Here is a little more about it:

  • Silver "pie-pan" concave dial, original and untouched in mint condition
  • Stainless steel Oyster case crafted from a single block of stainless steel. This process originally insured that watch was impervious to water to a depth of 100m.
  • Engine turned bezel
  • Officially certified chronometer movement
  • Original Rolex "oval link" Jubilee bracelet

It is fully original original down to the dial, all hands, winding crown, and Rolex Jubilee "oval link" bracelet date.

It presents in very pleasing condition. It silver dial is untouched and mint. Its case and bracelet presents as scratch-free.

Our Master Watchmaker has just performed a complete overhaul which consisted of fully disassembling the movement, carefully inspecting each part, replacing any overly worn components with new Rolex parts, reassembling and lubricating the movement, replacing all of the waterproofing seals with new Rolex gaskets, and extensive timing testing and regulation ($695 value).

For the finishing touch it has been meticulously detailed, making it ready for immediate enjoyment.

Included with the purchase is a one-year C.O.T. international warranty on the movement and its function, a custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity, and a new timing certificate.

Note: A published example of this model can be found in Osvaldo Patrizzi's work Rolex, Collecting Wristwatches, 2001 Edition, Guido Mondani editor, Vol. 2, pg. 30.
