1970's Omega Seamaster Mariner II Mens Vintage Quartz Bracelet Watch - Stainless Steel

Omega

Item No. 8038

Today's offering showcases this classic and all original Seamaster Mariner II in gorgeous condition.

Derived from Omega's famous Marine Chonometer, the only wristwatch at the time to be awarded a Marine Chronometer Certificate, the unusual Seamaster Mariner II is a highly capable watch.

To demonstrate that, a total of four Mariner watches were strapped to the mast or keel of two of the boats taking part in the 1976 OSTAR transatlantic race. The watches survived the extreme conditions fully intact and working properly.

Besides it reliability, this unusual watch holds another distinction - that of being powered by Omega's first analog quartz movement, the caliber 1320. The watch features a quick-setting hour capability for time-zone adjustment and special seconds setting.

The Mariner II has a distinctive utilitarian retro look with strong matte black dial, eight sided angular case, and complementary removable angular link bracelet.

Our example is 100% Omega down to the dial, hands, winding crown, and crystal.

Its case is mint with strong, crisp lines. Its original Omega dial is untouched. The luminous has aged to a pleasing sepia tone. Other than just a bit of a loss of original luminous the dial is mint.

A Master Watchmaker has performed any needed servicing and installed a new battery.

For the finishing touch it has been meticulously detailed making it ready for immediate enjoyment.

Included with the purchase is a one-year warranty on the movement and its function and a custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity

A nearly half-century old original Omega that looks like new on the wrist!

Note: Published examples of similar watches can be found in Marco Richon's work Omega: A Journey Through Time, 2007, pg. 403.

The Seamaster:
Worn on the wrists of celebrities Michael Schumacher, Pierce Brosnan, Michael Phelps, and Ernie Els Omega timepieces rank with Rolex and other of the world's fine Swiss firms.

Omega is perhaps best known by watch connoisseurs for its Seamaster line of dive watches. Introduced in 1948, they have been embraced by water sports enthusiasts and often marry a striking look with a high performance movement.
