1970's Piaget Ladies Vintage Backwind Bracelet Watch - 18K White Gold

Piaget

Item No. 7264

Piaget is one of the hottest brands of the year, and we've proud to offer this exceptional example, alongside several other special Piagets in our carefully curated collection.

Today's offering showcases this rare, beautiful, and very refined ladies Piaget "joaillerie" backwinding watch.

The elite Swiss firms usually encased their high-end backwind watches in tiny cases, to accentuate the small size of there movements, as I'll write about below, but that's not the case with this watch. It has a pleasingly wide bracelet with presence on the wrist.

Hiding inside the case is a miniature masterpiece that showcases incredible watchmaking skills. In a day an age when watches have become bigger and bigger, it's often forgotten that the truest test of elite watchmaking skill is going small.

Of the many luxurious ladies watches manufactured during vintage times, the backwind models were usually a company's top-of-the-line mechanical offering for women, often decorated or covered in jewels, and often costing the equivalent of many thousands of dollars or tens of thousands in today's valuation. These watches also possessed a great level of artistic refinement, concealing their winding crowns beneath the case back to avoid disrupting the watch's perfect purity and full symmetry.

Much more than just an object d'art, this luxurious accessory also showcased the state-of-the-art in miniaturization technology at the time.

Crafted from 18K white gold and exquisitely hand-decorated by Piaget's master jewelers, its case and bracelet radiate elegance and refined taste.

Sparing no expense on the details, even the sides of the bracelet are decorated matching the tops to give it greater interest from all angles.

Its silver bark textured dial repeats the handwrought design of the case and bracelet and gives the watch a monochromatic style.

We were fortunate to acquire this with its original parts, including the tiny screw on the back which is often lost or replaced.

Early on in its life this watch had developed an internal flaw that kept it from working properly ended. It ended up being a huge blessing for it - rather than being worn, it appears to have spent nearly all of its life stored away and only worn very carefully with an appreciation for its value and rarity.

Its gorgeous, unpolished case is mint. Its textured silver dial is 100% original and untouched, also mint. And its bracelet is just short of perfect mint with the slightest bit of wear to the underside. On the wrist is presents as mint.

Three of our Master Watchmakers worked for the last five years restoring the movement of this special watch to breathe new life into it which even included custom fabricating parts to the original factory functional quality and factory quality decorated finish. The final servicing was performed by our Master Watchmaker who used to be the watchmaker for an authorized Rolex dealership and was given special training by Rolex at their Beverly Hills Service Center and has done authorized work for the Cartier Service Center and the Richemont Group, the owners of Piaget (restoration value $1895).

Amazingly, despite its small size, after our servicing it is keeping time essentially on par with a new Piaget in our testing recording position.

Included with the purchase is a one-year C.O.T. warranty on the movement and its function, a custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity, and a new timing certificate.

Retail price for a comparable new Piaget: Approx. $45,000.00 USD

The weight of the watch is approx. 57.1 grams. Our price does not reflect even much of a premium over the gold value of the watch.

Your watch is important to us, and we will take care of it for its lifetime. We provide the best after sale care in the business with an extremely experienced team of four Master Watchmakers all of whom each have over thirty-five years of experience and a large number of parts.
