1970's Piaget Vintage Mens Large Watch with Award Winning Ultra Thin 9P Movement - 18K White Gold

Piaget

Item No. 9117

Today's offering showcases this exclusive mens Piaget Black Tie Emperador style watch crafted from 18K white gold. It presents a surprising large presence on the wrist, larger than many rectangular or tonneau dress watches from the era.

Built when Piaget was still a family owned and run company creating only a relatively small number of high grade watches, it is both ultra-luxurious and very fine.

It has a distinctive Piaget look with a sculptured bezel and cabochon sapphire crown. With its white gold case, gray dial, white gold markers, and silver Piaget printing, it has a stunning monochromatic design that we love.

Built from solid 18K white gold, the slim case not only possesses elegance and class, it also serves as a fitting housing for one of the thinnest movements ever made, Piaget's award-winning 9P series high grade movement.

Its renowned movement, one of the world's first ultra-thin wristwatch movement, measures a mere 2.15mm thick - less than the thickness of a US half-dollar! Despite its small size, it sacrifices nothing in performance, having earned a reputation as one of the most refined and reliable mechanisms on the supreme level of fine watchmaking.

It presents beautifully on the wrist. The case presents as mint condition. The long lugs appear to have previously been customized.

Its gray dial with 18K white gold markers is original and untouched. It has light natural aging to the lacquer which is more difficult to see than the photos seem to suggest. Please inquire if you would like it restored.

One of our Master Watchmakers, who has done authorized work for Piaget and the Richemont Group which besides Piaget owns brands including Cartier, Vacheron & Constantin, IWC, JLC and others, fully serviced it, which consisted of fully disassembling the high-grade ultra thin 9P series movement, carefully inspecting each part, installing a new internal mainspring, reassembling and lubricating the movement, and extensive timing testing and regulation (a $695 value).

For the finishing touch, we have meticulously detailed it and installed a new leather strap making it ready for immediate enjoyment.

Included with the purchase is a one-year C.O.T. international warranty on the movement and its function and a custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity.
