Today's showcases this classic vintage retro Omega Seamaster Cosmic 2000 with double quick-setting day and date. It presents in gorgeous restored condition. Our photos couldn't do justice to its condition.
The Seamaster Cosmic is one of our favorite non-exotic Seamasters from the era because of its large size, classic design, and well-made case with unique "bathysphere" style design that has an inner movement holder that houses the movement.
At a time when the quartz revolution was taking place these watches with automatic Cal. 1022 movement carried on both the style and mechanical functionality of a traditional Seamaster.
Cosmic 2000 watches were large for the era, measuring 38mm in diameter. They fit in well with today's style.
Besides its great retro styling, one of the things we like about this watch is its early double quick-setting day date features.
Omega created the 1020 and 1022 movement with a double quick-set capability for convenient setting of the day and date. Though many connoisseurs associate the idea of the double quick-set watch with Rolex, which first offered the President model with this "new" feature in late 1990, Omega's 1020 series mechanisms were a pioneer of the technology in large scale production watches. The 1022, which was the higher trim level in the series, had six more jewels than its sibling.
It has all of its original parts and has just finished a true expertly done restoration.
On the wrist, the case presents as gorgeous mint with perfect high polished facets. The case back shows signs of moderate previous polishing.
*Note: Despite what the photos seem to suggest the hypocampus logo on the back is still fully intact, just light.
Its Omega dial has been meticulously restored - the printing could pass as Omega factory done to the naked eye.
As part of the restoration, a Master Watchmaker has just fully overhauled the movement. It winds very smoothly. We have also timed it on a machine that simulates it being worn on the wrist. It is keeping time like a new Omega in our testing.
For the finishing touch, a new leather strap and aftermarket Omega buckle has been installed making it ready for immediate enjoyment.
Included with the purchase is a one-year C.O.T. international warranty on the movement and its function and a custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity.
Your watch is important to us, and we will take care of it for its lifetime. We provide the best after sale care in the business with an extremely experienced team of four Master Watchmakers, all of whom each have over thirty-five years of experience and a large number of parts. One used to be the watchmaker for an authorized Rolex dealership and was given special training by Rolex at their Beverly Hills Service Center.
A more than four decade old Omega that looks like new on the wrist!
