1973 Omega Geneve Vintage Mens Waterproof Style Watch - 18K Gold Plated & Stainless Steel

Omega

Item No. 8293

Today's offering showcases this classic and striking example of one of Omega's vintage gent's Geneve watches. It has essentially the same case construction as a Seamaster but was sold under the Geneve model name.

It has a solid waterproof style case with screw back, strong black dial with baguette markers, and an uncommon caliber 1030 handwound Omega movement.

Its so-called tropical or hypo-allergenic case has the look on the wrist of a solid gold Omega for a fraction of the price.

It is full size for the era measuring 35mm in diameter - one millimeter larger than a Rolex Date and one millimeter smaller than a Datejust.

It is fully Omega down to the hands and crown. It has just finished a true expertly done restoration - it presents as a 9.7 out of 10. Its dial has been meticulously refinished - its printing could pass as Omega factory done to the naked eye.

As part of the restoration our Master Watchmaker has fully serviced the watch which consists of fully disassembling the movement, carefully inspecting each part, replacing any overly worn components with genuine Omega originals, installing a new mainspring, reinforcing the one weak point in these handwound caliber 1030 movements, reassembling and lubricating it, and extensive timing testing and regulation in five chronometer positions (a $445 value).

We have also equipped the watch with a new leather strap making it ready for immediate enjoyment.

Included with the purchase is a one-year warranty on the movement and its function, a custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity, and a new timing certificate.

A four and a half decade old Omega that looks like new!

Omega Geneve:
Worn on the wrists of celebrities Michael Schumacher, Pierce Brosnan, Michael Phelps, and Ernie Els Omega timepieces rank with Rolex and other of the world's fine Swiss firms.

Beginning in 1953 Omega placed the name Geneve on the dials of some of the members of the 30mm collection which at the time were produced in the company's workshops in Geneve (to put Geneve on a dial of a watch certain components and processes must take place in Geneve) and later expanded the line of watches featuring the name. According to Omega the name referred to to the Genevan Observatory where the early 30mm calibers set a number of records.
