Created in 1967 by Omega's sales director Robert Forster, the Dynamic is a wonderful example of a true retro style. The clean and functional watch, a considerable success for Omega, possessed a number of designed elements that made it stand out:
- An ellipse shape with recessed crown determined to be the best geometric shape for the wrist, determined after extensive study
- Easy to read dial with "time zone" sections.
- Unicoc case with hermetically sealed crystal water-resistant to a depth of 30m.
- Available with a stainless steel bracelet or easily interchangeable water-resistant Cor-fam straps
According to an Omega advertisement at the time, "The shape of the Omega Dynamic was determined by the anatomy of your wrist; its dial by the workings of your eyes; it strap by the physiology of your skin."
Powering the watch is Omega's 1022 movement with pioneering so-called "double quick-set" day and date features.
Omega created the 1020 and 1022 series movement with a double quick-set capability for convenient setting of the day and date. Though many connoisseurs associate the idea of the double quick-set watch with Rolex, which first offered the President model with this "new" feature in late 1990, Omega's 1020 series mechanisms were a pioneer of the technology in large scale production watches.
We are pleased to offer this early 1970's Dynamic.
It has all of its original parts and has just finished a true expertly done restoration. It presents in gorgeous condition.
Its steel case presents as mint with all of its original markings strongly intact. Its wonderful blue and silver dial has been meticulously refinished - the printing could pass as Omega factory done to the naked eye. Its original bracelet has fairly mild stretch - its finish presents as mint.
And its fine, automatic Omega has just been overhauled by a Master Watchamaker. It is keeping time better than most brand new Omegas in our testing recording position.
Included with the purchase is a one-year C.O.T. international warranty on the movement and its function, a full-page custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity, and a new timing certificate.
A fifty year old Dynamic that presents like new on the wrist!
Please note: An example of this watch resides in the Omega museum, and a published example can be found in Marco Richon's work Omega: A Journey Through Time, 2007, pg. 483.
