1980 Omega Speedmaster Teutonic Vintage Mens Chronograph, 145.0040 - Stainless Steel & 18K Gold

Omega

Item No. 5516

Today's offering features a so called Smooth Line Speedmaster Teutonic in beautiful original condition. As the name implies the Teutonic was made for the German speaking markets, and its streamlined case and bracelet style are unlike other Speedys. It has a distinctive look that seems to suggest it needs to be mated with a motorcycle or a sports car - preferably German - before it will be completely at home. It is an uncommon and perhaps underappreciated Speedy, particularly uncommon in this two-tone version.

Beating away inside the case is the time-tested Omega caliber 861 manually wound movement, Omega's durable workhorse chronograph caliber, and the movement found in the moon watch.

It has been freshly overhauled and is functioning very well. Included with the purchase is a one-year warranty on the movement and its function, a custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity, and a new timing certificate attesting to its performance.

Speedmaster:
In 1957, Omega unveiled a chronograph that was a true technological marvel, the Speedmaster. Its incredible durability and accuracy would not only win it accolades around the world and the distinction of being the first watch to be worn on the moon, it would accomplish something far more important, guiding the crew of Apollo 13 safely back home after their malfunctioning electronic systems had shut down.
