Today's offering showcases this watch retailed by Bucherer. It was made before the company took on its current Carl F. Bucherer name.
Usually when things are complicated, it means more stress, more work, and more effort, but in the end, it's worth it. The same holds true for wristwatches, where gifted artisans and engineers from years gone by labored months and years to create complicated timepieces that transcend art and talent. When it comes to wristwatches, the highest realms of respect and value are reserved for these watches that do much more than merely tell time.
Created in the quartz era when complicated watches were not as much the rage as they are today, this distinctive Bucherer clearly stood out from the pack.
For those not familiar with the company, Bucherer was one of Switzerland 's premier watch retailer similar to Tiffany & Co. here in the States. Like many watches made for Tiffany, Cartier, and other high-end retailers, the watch was made by Swiss watch firms and privately labelled with the retailers name.
Though it has much fewer moving parts than a comparable mechanical watch, its presence still showcases that the art of fine watchmaking was not entirely lost during the period. It displays the month, date, and day of the week along with the phases of the moon, and when set correctly it can be used as a full featured calendar tool or as a display of precision purchased to adorn a deserving gentleman's wrist.
It is all original and presents beautifully on the wrist. Its complicated white dial is original and mint.
Our Master Watchmaker has fully serviced the watch which consists of fully disassembling the movement, carefully inspecting each part, replacing any overly worn components, reassembling and lubricating the movement, replacing all of the waterproofing seals with new gaskets, and extensive timing testing and regulation (a $495 value).
For the finishing touch it comes equipped with a crocodile strap making it ready for immediate enjoyment.
Included with the purchase is a 90-day international warranty on the movement and its function and a custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity.
