1985 Rolex Oyster Perpetual Date Ref. 15505 Mens Quick-Setting 14K Gold & Stainless Steel Gold Shell Watch - Papers & Boxes

Rolex

Item No. 8245

Possessing understated elegance and clean lines this vintage Rolex Oyster Perpetual Date watch showcases a truly classic style.

As precise as it is classic, this watch is powered by the well-regarded caliber 3035 movement, one of the mechanisms that powered Submariner, Explorer, and GMT models.

Featuring a classic gold shell case and champagne dial it possesses a very luxurious style - it has the look of a solid gold Rolex for a fraction of the cost.

Its so-called "Tropical or Hypoallergenic" case with gold shell top with original stainless steel back made it more rugged and durable, especially when worn in warm or wet climates.

We were fortunate to acquire it in all-original condition from its original owner who had had it for 35 years.

What makes this one even more special is that it still has its original papers from 1985, its booklet and booklets holder, and both its original inner and outer boxes in very good condition, a true complete papers set!

Its case is better than near mint with no gold wearthrough. Its dial is just short of mint with wonderfully toned luminous that perfectly matches both the hands and the gold of the dial.

Our Master Watchmaker has fully serviced the watch which consists of fully disassembling the movement, carefully inspecting each part, replacing several overly worn components with genuine Rolex replacements, reassembling and lubricating the movement, replacing all of the waterproofing seals with new Rolex gaskets, and extensive timing testing and regulation (a $795 value).

For the finishing touch we have equipped it with a brand new crocodile strap making it ready for immediate enjoyment.

Included with the purchase is a one-year international C.O.T. warranty on the movement and its function, a custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity, a new timing certificate attesting to its performance.

A published example of this model can be found in Osvaldo Patrizzi's work Rolex, Collecting Wristwatches, 2001 Edition, Guido Mondani editor, Vol. 1, pg. 262.
