Today's offering showcases this deeply personal and equally bold piece from our COT Celebrity Collection: A Techno Com by KC watch diamond encrusted wristwatch personally owned and worn by the towering guitarist, vocalist, and co-founder of Mountain, whose sound helped define the raw power of American hard rock.
Few guitarists are as instantly recognizable - or as physically and sonically imposing - as Leslie West. From the opening notes of Mississippi Queen, his tone was thick, aggressive, and unmistakably human: distorted but articulate, heavy yet melodic, and utterly fearless. West did not merely play loud - he played with weight, authority, and emotion, helping bridge the blues-based rock of the late 1960's with the heavier forms that followed.
As the driving force behind Mountain, Leslie West helped shape one of the most influential power trios of the post-Woodstock era. Climbing! remains a cornerstone album of American hard rock, and Mississippi Queen endures as one of the most iconic guitar riffs of all time - a song that continues to appear in films, television, and popular culture more than five decades after its release.
Beyond Mountain, West’s career was expansive and deeply respected. He collaborated with an extraordinary range of artists across generations, from Jack Bruce and Felix Pappalardi to Slash, Joe Lynn Turner, Zakk Wylde, and Yngwie Malmsteen. His influence is routinely cited by guitar legends as foundational, and his tone - thick, vocal, and unmistakable - remains inspirational for players chasing authenticity rather than polish.
This watch was not a commemorative object or a stage prop. It appears to have been Leslie West’s personal wristwatch - very heavily worn, enjoyed, and lived with. Its bold flame-pattern dial, oversized diamond encrusted tonneau case, and chronograph layout align naturally with West’s larger-than-life presence and unfiltered musical identity. Like his sound, it favors personality over subtlety and expression over refinement.
Our research couldn't turn up another example anything like this flame dialed watch. It may have been made bespoke for Mr. West.
This watch:
The watch features a stainless-steel tonneau-shaped case accented with decorative single cut diamonds set along the bezel, lugs, and case sides, paired with a vivid flame-motif dial with three chronograph sub-registers and luminous hour markers. A date aperture at three o’clock completes the layout.
We are estimating that there are approximately 250 diamond totaling perhaps 2.5 carats.
The design is expressive and unmistakable, mirroring the personality of its original owner rather than attempting to convey traditional luxury.
It was extremely well loved by Mr. West - it appears to have been his daily wearer. It remains in overall good and very used condition with wear and also hairlines throughout the crystal. We have not cleaned or polished the watch or done anything to the outside of it — we left it just as we acquired it, which includes many signs of wear and abundant dirt.
On the inside, one of our Master Watchmakers has installed a new battery making it ready for enjoyment.
Accompanying the watch is a meaningful piece of provenance: an unopened Legacy: A Tribute to Leslie West CD, still factory sealed. The album celebrates West’s lasting influence and features performances by an extraordinary roster of guitar royalty and rock icons, many of whom openly credit him as a foundational inspiration.
Included with the purchase is a one-year C.O.T. international warranty on the movement and its function and a full-page custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity. Also accompanying it is a Certificate of Authenticity and Provenance from a well-known auction house.
