Cartier created the Santos-Dumont in honor of the famous Brazilian aviator Alberto Santos-Dumont. Alberto Santos-Dumont, a true daring aviation pioneer, flew in France and Europe in some of the first prototype airplanes. After hearing complaints from him friend about how difficult it was to access his pocket watch in the cockpit, Cartier rose to the challenge by creating a special watch that could be strapped to the wrist.
Designed for lovers of beautiful objects, the exceptionally styled Santos Dumont embodies Cartier's classic sophistication.
This midsize Dumont from the Collection Privee features an ultra-slim 18K case, classic white Roman dial with blue steel hands, sapphire topped crown, and high grade, hand-crafted mechanical movement.
Unlike modern quartz watches, this mechanism made showcases the timeless art of traditional watchmaking at its finest.
As a mens midsize, it is suitable for anyone who has smaller wrists.
It is in very pleasing original condition and presents as close to mint. It presents as about a 9.4 out of 10.
Our Master Watchmaker has performed a light servicing on the watch ($295 value). Included with the purchase is a one-year C.O.T. warranty on the movement and its function, a custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity, and a new timing certificate.
