Before cost-cutting measures brought about the widespread use of cheaper quartz movements for many wristwatches, Cartier contracted with watch manufacturers to produce mechanical movements designed to last a lifetime. Using traditional watchmaking practices, these gifted craftsmen gave individual attention to each wristwatch. As a result, Cartier wristwatches with mechanical movements are often more sought after by collectors than their quartz counterparts.

While we generally love all vintage Cartier Tanks, we really adore this one. It was made earlier than the ones seen so often from the late 70's and on that have the look of a modern Tank.

This has the true original vintage Tank style. While made after the 1930's, it still holds a look that is very similar to the early Tanks.

It is 100% Cartier including the strap and buckle. The only replacement parts are the case screws which are commonly replaced because the soft gold of the originals easily strips (and were often lost too). These steel ones should last the life of the watch.

Its thin case presents as mint with its original Cartier numbers still clearly intact.

Its untouched original dial is in excellent condition with light toning and natural aging. We have left it original, because of the watch's desirability and early Tank look. If you would like it restored, please inquire.

One of our Master Watchmakers who has done authorized servicing work for Cartier's Service Center has freshly serviced the watch which consisted of fully disassembling the movement, carefully inspecting each part, installing a new mainspring, reassembling and lubricating the movement, and extensive timing testing and regulation (a $795 value).
