Designed personally by Louis Cartier in 1917 and patterned after an army tank, Cartier's iconic Tank watch symbolized speed and achievement.
Today's offering showcases this classic mens vermeil Cartier Tank watch complete with original boxes and papers. It has an iconic tank case, classic Roman dial, blued epee hands, sapphire topped crown, and mechical Cartier movement.
Before cost-cutting measures brought about the widespread use of cheaper quartz movements for many wristwatches, Cartier contracted with watch manufacturers to produce mechanical movements designed to last a lifetime. Using traditional watchmaking practices, these gifted craftsmen poured individual attention into each wristwatch. As a result, mens Cartier wristwatches with mechanical movements are often more sought after by collectors than their quartz counterparts.
Originally designed for men by today's standard it could also be worn by a woman.
It has just finished a true expert restoration and presents in gorgeous condition. On the wrist the watch presents as nearly like new. As part of the restoration the movement has just been fully serviced, and for the finishing touch we have just installed a new Teju lizard strap making it ready for immediate enjoyment.
Included with the purchase is a one-year C.O.T. warranty on the movement and its function and a custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity.
