Designed personally by Louis Cartier in 1917 and patterned after an army tank, Cartier's iconic Tank watch symbolized speed and achievement.
Before cost-cutting measures brought about the widespread use of cheaper quartz movements for many wristwatches, Cartier contracted with luxury watch manufacturers to produce mechanical movements designed to last a lifetime. Using traditional watchmaking practices, these gifted craftsmen poured individual attention into each wristwatch. As a result, mens Cartier wristwatches with mechanical movements are often more sought after by collectors than their quartz counterparts.
Today's offering showcases this all original and handsome mens vermeil Cartier Tank. It features an iconic tank case, distinctive brown marbleized dial, gold epee hands, sapphire topped crown, and mechanical Cartier movement. Originally designed for men by today's standard it could easily be worn by a woman.
It is in pleasing condition, and our watchmaker has freshly cleaned and oiled the movement.
Included with the purchase is a one-year C.O.T. warranty on the movement and its function, a custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity, and a new timing certificate.
