1952 Vintage IWC Mens Extra-Large Caliber 89 37mm Dress Watch - 18K Rose Gold

IWC

Item No. 7185

The wonderful caliber 89 IWC featured in today's offering showcases what makes vintage IWC's so special.

It is larger than almost all similar dress style watches from the era. Measuring a full 37mm in diameter without the crown, it is larger than a Rolex Datejust and the same size as a Patek "King Size" ref. 2481.

Powered by one of the most highly-regarded manually wound movements ever made, talked about in the same sentence as Pateks, the watch is rich in technical details.

The movement was designed by IWC's renowned technical director Albert Pellaton and chosen by the company to power their famous Mark 11 military watches.

Housing the fine movement is its elegant 18K gold rose case with large claw lugs. It has a wide "disco volante" style bezel. Its large size and design give it a distinctive and very pleasing style. Our photos couldn't do it justice.

We were fortunate to acquire it with all of its original parts.

Its large case presents as better than near mint with a crisp hallmark. Its dial is bright and clean, previously well-restored.

Our Master Watchmaker has fully serviced the watch which consists of fully disassembling the movement, carefully inspecting each part, replacing any overly worn components with correct IWC replacements, reassembling and lubricating the movement, and extensive timing testing and regulation (a $695 value).

For the finishing touch we have equipped it with a brand new Teju lizard strap making it ready for immediate enjoyment.

Included with the purchase is a one-year international warranty on the movement and its function, a custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity, and a new timing certificate.
