1969 IWC Vintage Mens Automatic Cal. 8541 Pellaton Watch - Stainless Steel

IWC

Item No. AB22

Today's offering showcases this superior automatic IWC with a classic retro look.

Powering the watch is a cal. 8541 movement, part of the caliber 85 family of movements designed by Albert Pellaton and that feature his renowned winding system. This mechanism's automatic winding system is a technical masterpiece, earning it high praise - Gisbert Brunner and Christian Pfeiffer-Belli in their work, Wristwatches Armbanduhren Montres-bracelets, proclaimed it "one of the best automatic movements ever built in Switzerland."

And the famous watchmaker Donald de Carle, in his book Complicated Watches and their Repair, stated that IWC's special automatic winding mechanism was "a simple and ingenious system, well constructed and beautifully finished."

The company built this watch in 1969, at the same they were building their famous Ingenieur line which also had watches that utilized the caliber 8541.

It has had a true expertly done restoration and presents in beautiful restored condition. The dial has been meticulously restored - the printing could pass as IWC factory done to the naked eye.

It has been overhauled by a Master Watchmaker - it winds perfectly smooth.

For the finishing touch we have equipped it with a brand new crocodile strap making it ready for immediate enjoyment.

Included with the purchase is a 90-day international warranty on the movement and its function, a custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity, and a new timing certificate.

An almost five decade old IWC that looks almost like new on the wrist!
