Popularized in the late 1940's, the "Hour-Glass" shape was one of the most elegant forms from the period, exhibiting graceful lines and perfect symmetry. As the boldness of the fifties design sensibilities took hold, their form became much more angular and even somewhat avante garde.
Today's offering showcases this striking "pointed hourglass" watch by Longines from the era that culminated with designs like the '57 Chevy and '59 Cadillac.
It has all of its original Longines parts. Our team of Master Watchmakers has just finished giving it a true expertly done yearlong sympathetic restoration, and it presents beautifully!
Its case presents as just short of mint with light signs of previous polishing. Its dial was refinished by one of the leading dial experts in North America.
As part of the restoration one of our Master Watchmakers has disassembled it down to its last screw and cleaned and oiled it and installed a brand new mineral glass crystal to give a clear view of the dial to the very edge.
It is running strong and true, keeping time virtually on par with a new Longines in our testing position.
For the finishing touch we have equipped it with a brand new Teju lizard strap and aftermarket Longines style buckle making it ready for immediate enjoyment.
Included with the purchase is a one-year warranty on the movement and its function, a custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity, and a new timing certificate attesting to its performance.
