Longines is known for creating some of the most technically innovative and attractive timepieces in the world. Once worn by Humphrey Bogart, Richard Byrd, and Charles Lindbergh, these pieces are sought after by collectors, Hollywood celebrities, and anyone desiring to wear a superior wristwatch. Longines' vintage wristwatches rank with Jaeger-LeCoultre and other of the world's fine Swiss firms.
To captivate their clientele in vintage times, the fine Swiss firm offered an objet d'art called the mystery dial, named after the way the hour marker seemed to mysteriously float around dial, unattached to the rest of the watch yet keeping perfect time.
Here are some of the qualities that make this unusual timepiece special:
- Mystery dial featuring an 'invisible' revolving disk equipped with a white gold and diamond hour marker, appearing to float around the dial as the watch registers the time
- Dramatic and elegant guilloche dial with diamond markers and diamond bejeweled hands. The primary hours have stylized white markers and the other hours have a brilliant diamond solitaire set in white gold
- Very high-quality Longines movement, showcasing top tier Swiss craftsmanship from the era
It is fully Longines down to the original crown and presents very nicely. This special version has a very elegant guilloche inner dial section - the icing on the cake.
Its solid white gold Longines case is in excellent condition. Its dramatic mystery dial, serving as the center focal point of the watch, is in excellent condition as well. And its high-grade Longines movement is keeping time. Photos of the inside available upon request.
One of our watchmakers has disassembled it down to its last screw and cleaned and oiled it. It is running strong and true.
For the finishing touch we have equipped it with a brand new genuine Teju lizard strap making it ready for immediate enjoyment.
Included with the purchase is a one-year C.O.T. international warranty on the movement and its function, a full-page custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity, and a new timing certificate.
