1940's Movado Vintage Triple Calendar "FDR's Watch" - 14K Gold - The Calendograph

Movado

Item No. 8493

During Movado's glorious period from 1912 through the 1950's, when such innovations as the polyplan movement, Calendomatic, and exceptional in-house chronographs pushed the envelope of horological technology, and original designs such as the Museum watch took their place in history, their wristwatches enjoyed a level of prestige reserved only for works of very fine watchmakers.

Today's offering features this wonderful all-original Movado Calendograph watch. The colors of the two-tone dial, blue date track, red date hand pointer, and black hands all provide beautiful interest!

It is the exact same model that FDR owned and reportedly wore it at the Malta and Yalta Conferences in 1945 and in the last months of his life. His was retailed through Tiffany. Photos of FDR's Calendograph are in the listing below (photo from Antiquroum).

Powering by an in-house Movado movement, the watch possesses capabilities that track the date, day of the week, and month.

These dress style non-waterproof Calendrographs are midsize watches - well-suited for someone who doesn't have a large wrist.

Its dial presents in pleasing condition and has warmed to a sepia tone, giving it a true vintage look. Its case is in excellent condition. It has four light symmetrical pin prick indentions in the back. The lugs still retain strong chamfers on top. On the wrist it presents in excellent condition.

One of our Master Watchmakers has fully serviced the watch which consists of fully disassembling the movement, carefully inspecting each part, replacing any overly worn components, reassembling and lubricating the movement, straightening out the bushing in the month wheel, and extensive timing testing and regulation (a $795 value).

We have tested it on a machine that spins the watch in all directions simulating it being worn on the wrist, and it is keeping perfect time like a new Patek Philippe.

For the finishing touch we have equipped it with a brand new leather strap making it ready for immediate enjoyment.

Included with the purchase is a one-year international warranty on the movement and its function and a custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity.
