1960's Omega Dynamic Vintage Mens Cal. 565 Watch with Racing Dial - Stainless Steel

Omega

Item No. 9707

Created in 1967 by Omega's sales director Robert Forster, the Dynamic is a wonderful example of a true retro style. The clean and functional watch, a considerable success for Omega, possessed a number of designed elements that made it stand out:

  • An ellipse shape with recessed crown determined to be the best geometric shape for the wrist, determined after extensive study
  • Easy to read dial with "time zone" sections. The dial on this example is done in a racing style design with 1/5 second markings for precision timing for racing, aviation, or other professional uses.
  • Unicoc case with hermetically sealed crystal water-resistant to a depth of 30m.
  • Available with a stainless steel bracelet or easily interchangeable water-resistant Cor-fam straps

According to an Omega advertisement at the time, "The shape of the Omega Dynamic was determined by the anatomy of your wrist; its dial by the workings of your eyes; it strap by the physiology of your skin."

We are pleased to offer this first generation Dynamic. The first generation of the watch lasted from 1968 until 1970. We love its racing style dial with orange minutes/seconds markings!

As one of the early Dynamics, before Omega switched to using the 1000 series movements for the line, it is powered by Omega's high-grade caliber 565.

Omega's top-tier caliber 565 movement, one of the last superior 500's series movements used before Omega began trying to reduce their costs, was the top-tier offering of the 500 series. It has 24 jewels and a quick-setting date and is arguably the finest mass-produced automatic movement from era.

It has all of its original parts and has just finished a true expertly done restoration. Its condition presents as about a 9.7 or 9.8 out of 10.

Its steel case presents as just short of perfect mint with all of its original markings strongly intact.

Its dial has been meticulously refinished - its printing could pass as Omega factory done to the naked eye. And its fine Omega handwound has just been overhauled by a Master Watchamaker.

After more than half a century, it continues to run very strong and true, keeping time essentially on par with a brand new Omega in our testing recording position.

Included with the purchase is a one-year C.O.T. warranty on the movement and its function, a custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity, and a new timing certificate attesting to its performance.

A more than fifty-year old Dynamic that presents like new on the wrist!

Please note: An example of this watch resides in the Omega museum, and a published example can be found in Marco Richon's work Omega: A Journey Through Time, 2007, pg. 483.
