1960's Omega Seamaster Cosmic Vintage Mens Day Date Watch - Stainless Steel

Omega

Item No. 8851

Today's offering showcases this classic and incredibly restored c. 1969 Omega Seamaster. It possesses a wonderful retro style and features both day and date complications.

It measures 35mm in diameter without the crown, in between the sizes of a Rolex Date and a Datejust.

It has a monocoque - or one piece - case which insured water resistance and slim, elegant profile. The case when new achieved high water resistance ratings by not having a separate case back.

Powering the watch is Omega's caliber 752 movement with twenty-four jewels (seven more than in many Seamaster versions from the period) and a quick-setting function for the date.

The 700 series has a direct lineage with the celebrated 500 series, and is arguably as good, and collectors are beginning to recognize it accordingly. The series ended the 500/700 family of movements used before Omega began trying to reduce their costs. They were one of the finest mass produced movements from the era.

It is fully Omega down to the hands and winding crown and has just finished a true expertly done restoration. It presents as about a 9.7 out of 10 condition.

Its case shows very slight signs of polishing to the back. Otherwise it presents as perfect mint. Despite what the photos seem to suggest the markings are intact. On the wrist it presents like new with gorgeous soleil finish.

Its dial has been meticulously refinished - the printing could pass as Omega factory done to the naked eye. Its color is a deep rich true royal blue - our photos couldn't do it justice.

As part of the restoration the somewhat uncommon movement originally adjusted to two positions has just been overhauled by a Master Watchmaker. It is running strong and true, keeping time essentially on par with a new Omega in our testing position.

For the finishing touch we have equipped it with a brand new calfskin leather strap and aftermarket Omega vintage style buckle making it ready for immediate enjoyment.

The Seamaster:
Omega watches can be found on the wrists of many prominent figures including Pierce Brosnan, Michael Schumacher, Michael Phelps, Ernie Els, Prince William, and one graced the wrist of President John F. Kennedy. Omega has been the official timekeeper for 21 Olympic Games and is the official chronometer of NASA.

Omega is perhaps best known by watch connoisseurs for its Seamaster line of dive watches. Introduced in 1948, they have been embraced by water sports enthusiasts and marry a striking look with a high performance movement.
