Today's offering showcases this classic 1961 Omega Seamaster. Powering the watch is Omega's top-tier caliber 562 movement with twenty-four jewels (instead of the more common seventeen jewel versions).
It measures approximately 34mm in diameter without the crown, the same size as a Rolex Date watch.
It is fully Omega down to the crown and even the crystal. The back of the gold-capped case has a pleasing and large embossed Hypocampus logo on the back. The case, with it's thick cap of gold, has the look of a solid gold Seamaster for a fraction of the price.
The silver linen dial has been restored by one of the leading dial experts in North America. We have not polished the case, which has nice lines - please inquire if you would like us.
The very fine caliber 562 movement, which has swan's neck regulation, is very clean and running true. The movement has just been freshly cleaned and oiled.
For the finishing touch we have installed a new genuine crocodile strap, making it ready for immediate enjoyment.
Included with the purchase is a one-year warranty on the movement and its function, a custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity, and a new timing certificate attesting to the watch's performance.
Note: A published example of a similar watch can be seen in Marco Richon's work, Omega: A Journey Through Time, 2007, pg. 291 and resides in the Omega Museum.
The Seamaster:
Omega is perhaps best known by watch connoisseurs for its Seamaster line of dive watches. Introduced in 1948, they have been were embraced by water sports enthusiasts and often marry a striking look with a high performance movement.
