Omega is often known by watch lovers for its Seamaster line of recreational water-sports watches. Combining a striking look with a high performance movement, they've received a strong following since vintage times.
Today's offering showcases this scarce example of a classic vintage Seamaster Cosmic. It has a striking design.
The case is the uncommon style with a soleil brushed bezel and high polished faceted lugs. The dial has previously been refinished in a Ranchero military style. Our photos couldn't do it justice.
It could also be paired at times with a NATA strap to highlight its military style dial.
Its monococque - or one-piece - Omega case achieved high water resistance ratings by not having a separate case back.
Powering the watch is Omega's top tier caliber 562 with 24 jewels (seven more than in many similar Omega's) and semi-quick-setting date, one of the last superior 500's series movements used before Omega began trying to reduce their costs. The 500 series are one of the finest mass-produced automatic movements ever made.
Watches with 500 series movements make great long-term buys because they are easy and fairly inexpensive to service and parts are still readily available.
It is fully Omega down to the hands, winding crown, and even signed Omega crystal! On the wrist it presents as just short of perfect mint.
The dial has been previously restored. The case back has a few marks on each corner from a watchmakers servicing and has been previously significantly polished - on the wrist it presents as mint.
One of our watchmakers has disassembled it down to its last screw and cleaned and oiled it and installed a brand new signed Omega crystal.
For the finishing touch we have equipped it with a brand new crocodile strap making it ready for immediate enjoyment.
Included with the purchase is a one-year C.O.T. warranty on the movement and its function, a custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity, and a new timing certificate attesting to its performance.
