Today's offering showcases this rare, classic and pleasing automatic Omega. It features Omega's rare caliber 560 movement of which only 3,000 examples were made. These watches were made just for the U.S. market to avoid higher tariffs, and these 3,000 movements were split across 9 models, making each model in effect a very "limited edition."
It has all of its original parts and presents beautifully on the wrist. Its untouched original silver dial is just short of perfect mint, and its gold-filled top "tropical" steel back case has the look of a solid gold Omega without the price tag.
In construction it is a Seamaster, but this model was only very rarely branded so on the dial.
1960's and early 70's Omega's like this one are great long-term buys as parts are readily available for their well-made movements, and they're not hard to service.
Its case shows only slight wear and virtually none of the gold wear that is common with these. It has not been heavily polished so it retains strong lines. It is a very pleasing example of this model.
One of our Master Watchmakers has disassembled it down to its last screw and cleaned and oiled it. It is keeping very accurate time. In addition to our usual testing we have also timed it on a machine that spins it in all directions simulating it being worn - it is running within 9 seconds per day.
For the finishing touch, it comes equipped with a very nice Cole Haan leather strap and aftermarket Omega style buckle making it ready for immediate enjoyment.
Included with the purchase is a one-year C.O.T. international warranty on the movement and its function and a custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity.
