Today's offering showcases this cool and uncommon vintage Seamaster Cosmic mens watch. The original dial has been meticulously custom refinished in Sea Green vignette.
Unlike most Seamasters from the era which were automatic, this uncommon reference was powered by Omega's caliber 601 handwound movement originally adjusted to two positions. The thinner movement allows for a thinner case than with automatic Seamasters.
It has a monocoque - or one piece - case which insured water resistance and its handwound movement insured that it had a slimmer, more elegant profile than its automatic siblings. The case, when new, achieved high water resistance ratings by not having a separate case back.
It measures at approximately 35mm in diameter without the crown, in between the sizes of a Rolex Date and a Rolex Datejust.
It has all of its original parts and has just finished a true expertly done restoration. It presents in gorgeous condition - it presents as a 9.6 out of 10.
Its case presents as just short of perfect mint with slight signs of polishing to the back. Despite what the photos seem to suggest, all of the printing on the back is visible.
The bezel has a beautiful soleil finish. On the wrist the case presents like new.
Its original Omega dial has been meticulously custom refinished in sea green vignette - the printing could pass as Omega factory done to the naked eye.
Its markers have a very cool design - halfway through each's center they transition from tuxedo texturing to whitening. It's an unusual design that we don't remember ever seeing before on any of the thousands of Omegas we have seen from this period. Our photos couldn't pick up the effect.
A Master Watchmaker has disassembled it down to its last screw and cleaned and oiled it. It is running extremely strongly and keeping very accurate time.
For the finishing touch a new leather strap and aftermarket Omega style buckle has been installed making it ready for immediate enjoyment.
Included with the purchase is a one-year C.O.T. international warranty on the movement and its function, a custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity, and a new timing certificate.
A classic Seamaster with a cool retro look and presents on the wrist like new!

The Seamaster:
Omega watches can be found on the wrists of many prominent figures including Pierce Brosnan, Michael Schumacher, Michael Phelps, Ernie Els, Prince William, and one graced the wrist of President John F. Kennedy. Omega has been the official timekeeper for 21 Olympic Games and is the official chronometer of NASA.
Omega is perhaps best known by watch connoisseurs for its Seamaster line of dive watches. Introduced in 1948, they have been embraced by water sports enthusiasts and often marry a striking look with a high performance movement.
