1968 Omega Seamaster Vintage Mens Automatic Cal. 550 Watch - Stainless Steel

Omega

Item No. 7562

Today's offering showcases this classic and beautifully restored Seamaster from c. 1968. It has a classic Seamaster case design with screwback case embossed with the Seamonster logo and strong black dial.

Powering the watch is Omega's top-tier caliber 550 movement used in Seamasters from the era, and one of the last superior 500's series movements used before Omega began trying to reduce their costs. It and the caliber 565 were the top tier offerings of the 500 series.

It is one of the finest mass-produced automatic movements from era - arguably the finest.

'60's and early 70's Seamasters are great long-term buys as parts are readily available for their well-made movements, and they're not hard to service.

It measures 34.5mm in diameter without the crown, just slightly larger than the size of a Rolex Date watch.

It is fully Omega down to the dial, hands, and winding crown and has just finished a true expertly done restoration. It presents as mint condition. The dial has been meticulously refinished - the printing could pass as Omega factory done to the naked eye. And the movement is near pristine.

As part of the restoration the movement has been freshly overhauled by a Master Watchmaker. It winds very smoothly and is running very accurately.

For the finishing touch a new leather strap has been installed making it ready for immediate enjoyment.

Included with the purchase is a one-year C.O.T. international warranty on the movement and its function, a custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity, and a new timing certificate.

The Seamaster:
Omega is perhaps best known by watch connoisseurs for its Seamaster line of dive watches. Introduced in 1948, they have been embraced by water sports enthusiasts and often marry a striking look with a high performance movement.
